You Grow, Girl

You Grow, Girl

by Rebecca Brown

As a woman, you’re always under pressure to look a certain way and aspire to certain things.

As you move through your twenties towards your thirties and beyond, it can be all too easy to feel overwhelmed.

There’s so much to do and seemingly so little time, or at least that’s how we all feel at some point.

But life doesn’t need to be that way, and there’s no reason to think about it as a constant race towards an ever moving further away finish line.

Life is for living, which is why we hope that this short (yet hopefully sweet) piece on embracing change will help you do just that: step into yourself.

Breathe new life into your wardrobe with a seasonal makeover

As you get older, your styles and tastes naturally change, so rather than ruining it, why not embrace it? Treat yourself to a seasonal makeover every now and then and you’ll be able to look the way you want by dressing in a whole host of new and exciting ways. It sounds pretty obvious, but you’d be amazed at the number of women who never think to do it. Make a day of it in town with a couple of your best friends and you’ll soon find you’re making a habit of it.

Treat yourself to some expert skincare every once in a while

When you want to feel your best, you need to look your best, and your skin plays a key part in that process. It’s all about giving it the touch of tender loving care that will ensure your youthful glow never leaves you. After all, it’s more about staying healthy, than keeping wrinkles at bay.

If you want to be able to treat yourself, why not find a skincare expert who can pamper you every once in a while? That way you’ll be able to sleep with the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’re giving your body everything it needs.

Look forward to your bachelorette party with all your besties

Another way to spend time with your besties is to get busy planning your bachelorette party. You don’t even have to have the engagement ring on your finger, you just need to start thinking about it. That way you have something to look forward to and get excited about, and it’ll be a great source of inspiration when you come to plan other parties and get-togethers.

Create photo albums so that you have plenty of great times to look back on

There’s something about having a physical copy of a photo that you just can’t get from swiping through iCloud or DropBox. It’s all about having the memories right there in print, so that you can peruse them without a screen in sight. Make the most of getting older by creating photo albums to look back on and you’ll find that they become one of your favourite homely additions. They also make for a great craft project if you’re that way inclined and have a couple of spare hours on the weekend.

Organise a reunion with your old classmates

Catching up is the best way to enjoy getting older, so why not catch up with the people who you grew up with? As people head off to university and the world of work, we tend to all go our separate ways, but that doesn’t mean the bonds we shared aren’t still there.

Organising a school reunion is a great way to stay busy and catch up with all the gossip and        developments. You might feel a little nervous when you’re on your way, but the moment you step through the door you’ll feel like it was only yesterday you were all hanging out.

Keep in touch with everyone on Facebook

Facebook is a great way to catch up, and it’s an awesome way to reconnect with everyone you saw at the reunion. Create a couple of groups, get in the habit of adding photos, and then put a bit of effort into it. Getting older is great when you approach it with a positive mindset, and looking back on the great times you’ve had over the years is just the way to go about it.

Look forwards, not backwards

Last but not least, you need to start looking forwards more and more. It’s great to be able to do more than you could when you were younger. Now you have the money and resources to go out into the world and do the things you enjoy, why feel sad about getting older? You’re only really as old as you feel, which means age really can be just a number. By remembering fond memories and planning for what lies ahead at the same time, you can have the best of both worlds.
